ACADEMIC PRINCIPALS MESSAGE
Our final newsletter for term two which has probably been the shortest and most stressful term we as a family have ever experienced.
However, we all pulled together and made sure that our children were ready to sit their June exams despite the fact that we had approximately five teaching weeks.
Because of the extremely long June/July Holiday we have decided to HAND OUT THE SECOND TERM REPORTS on FRIDAY 11th JUNE from 8 - 11am
THE REPORTS WILL BE AVAILABLE IN THE FOLLOWING VENUES:
GRADE 8 & 9 MS SAXBYS CLASSROOM
GRADE 10, 11 & 12 MR PILKINGTONS CLASSROOM
PARENTS OR STUDENTS ARE WELCOME TO COLLECT THE REPORTS DURING THIS TIME
We welcome Mr Madlela to Grantley College from the beginning of the third term.
He will be teaching SS - Grade 8 & 9
Geography Grade 10, 11 & 12
We hope he will be happy at Grantley and we look forward to working with him.
My gratitude and thanks is extended to those staff members who assisted us this term by taking on the SS and Geography lessons. They did a great job under difficult circumstances. Well done!

Thank you too - Mr Sutherland who assisted us by giving our Matric Geography students extra tuition on a Saturday morning at the school.
Our students must also be thanked for their co-operation and good work ethic during these lessons.

Important Message from the Managmenet Board
Dear Parents and members of the Grantley College community,
On Friday, 28 May, the school bursar discovered that Grantley College had been the victim of online bank fraud.
The bursar raised unusual transfer and payment activity with management, and decided to freeze the accounts immediately. She contacted the Standard Bank fraud unit, and opened a case at SAPS Bedfordview.
The Governing Body office bearers endorsed the decision to freeze the accounts, and held an emergency meeting with school management on Saturday afternoon, 29 May.
The bursar and principals then met with the Standard Bank fraud department on Monday, 31 May. They continue to investigate and remain in close contact with the College. Almost 60% of the money has already been recovered.
The College is working with our service providers to upgrade our defences and increase our security dramatically. We hope to restore the bank account to normal by the end of the week.
All salaries had been paid before the incident occurred, and school fees can still be received safely into the schools bank account. All creditors will be informed of the situation, and asked for their forbearance.
We assure you that the College will seek to prosecute the responsible parties to the full extent of the law. We will update you on further developments as soon as possible.

A Word from the Admin Office
Statements of Account were e-mailed to parents on the 1st June 2010. Schoolfees are due on the 1st of every month. Thank you to all parents who have settled their accounts. For those accounts that still have outstanding balances we urge you to please settle.
A statement of your account will be included with your childs report. This statement will include the July fees which are due on the 1 st July 2010.
When paying via the Internet please make sure you use your account number as a reference, e.g.: 3VANC01.

If there are any changes to your details, please inform the school so that we can amend our records accordingly. It is very stressful for staff to try and contact a parent when their child is ill or hurt etc. when the numbers and e-mails are outdated.
The Admin offices will be closed from the 21 June to the 12 July 2010.
