Dear [NAME]
ACADEMIC PRINCIPALS MESSAGE

Grantley recently took part in The Learning Point Exhibition held at Grayston Preparatory School in Sandton and at Glenanda Primary in the South of Johannesburg. It afforded us the opportunity to make new contacts with other schools and to introduce ourselves to potential families for Grantley College.
Our first Open Day for 2010 is on February 19. Dr Kruger, the Support unit and I will be available to chat to any interested parents who are thinking of sending their children to our school.
I would also like to extend an invitation to our current parents who wish to see what we get up to on a typical school day!
Please leave work behind for a couple of hours, come back to school, join your child in the classroom and see for yourself how we do it at Grantley!
NB: Our new parents are particularly welcome as I am sure they are keen to experience first hand how well their children have settled in at Grantley.
Refreshments, tea and coffee will be prepared for you by the Grade 11 Hospitality Students and served at our restaurant on the college premises.
See you there

DRAMA WORKSHOP 5 February 2010
MADE IN AFRICA PLAY
Oh my word that was the most biggest fun I had ever had in DRAMA!
My co-stars and I had, had a lot of fun and got along just fine. I think Grantley is coming together and grooming a lot of Drama Queens and Kings.
I loved the whole improvising and making the production. Thank you to the whole team of facilitators Ezra, Jessica, Robin, Michael and Dexter. The costumes were made created by Robin`s team and were very funny ha ha! The storyline was very interesting, the Dance crew came up with some very wicked moves and the actors , we came up with something else which we found very interesting and we like each others characters. The musical adverts were very funny and I thought the media was pretty good.
So with much joy I really, really enjoyed it, including the whole group/crew. I am really looking forward to next years Made in Africa production again.
Please see the Gallery on our website showing our talented actors and dancers.

10 Ways to Teach Responsibility to your Teen
1 Establish family rules and be consistent about carrying out consequences if they're not followed. Rules might be about curfews, friends, and when to do homework.
2 Assign household chores and see that they're done on schedule.
3 Help your teen get and stay organized with school work and other activities.
4 Be a good role model by meeting your own obligations completely and on time.
5 Allow your teen to make personal choices in certain areas.
6 Provide your teen with ways to earn, save, and manage money.
7 Ask for your teen's input when making family decisions; brainstorm solutions together.
8 Help your teen consider the consequences of every action.
9 Keep the channels of communication open. Listen with an open mind so your teen can discuss mistakes he/she has made, and learn from experience.
10 Encourage your teen to show concern for others and become involved in local service projects.
10 Ways to Help your TEEN Do Well in School
1 Pay attention to your teen's schoolwork.
2 Offer support. Provide reassurances and help as your teen tackles educational activities and situations for the first time.
3 Promote good health habits. If your teen gets enough sleep, balanced meals, and proper exercise, classroom participation and learning will come more easily.
4 Stimulate your teen's growing interests.
5 Get involved in your teen's school. Meet with teachers, attend school events, and be prepared to intervene to assure that your teen's classes provide opportunities for success.
6 Be positive about education.
7 Help to organize a quiet study area at home for your teen. 8 Offer praise for your teen's achievements and efforts.
9 Discuss current events with your teen to promote an interest in learning about the world.
10 Be available when your teen wants to talk about school or other issues
If you are pleased with what you are, you have stopped already. Keep on walking, moving forward, and trying for the goal. Don`t try to stop on the way, or to go back, or to deviate from it and you will grow (Augustine)
Happy Valentine's Day for Sunday the 14th
